Funeral services for Destine R. Baxter, age 36, of Stockton, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton with Reverend Steve Slate officiating. Destine passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita the result of an auto accident near Rush Center, Kansas He was born May 21, 1974 in Plainville the son of Steven & Cheryl (Comeau) Baxter. He attended Stockton schools and later acquired his G.E.D. Destine worked construction and enjoyed collecting arrowheads, fossils, and shark teeth. He also enjoyed the outdoors fishing, gardening, painting and drawing with his children. Destine will always be remembered as a good friend, father, brother, and son. Survivors include his parents Steve & Cheryl Baxter of Stockton; daughters Hannah Baxter of Hays, Skylin Reeves Baxter, Savana Baxter, an Adyson Rose Baxter all of Longmont, Colorado; Brother Robert “Bobby” Cane of Stockton; sisters Jennifer Brown of Longmont, Colorado, Abigail Baxter of Springfield, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his aunt Karen Oss, and uncle Daryl Arrington. Cremation is planned and the cremains will be scattered where Destine enjoyed arrowhead hunting at a later date. Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Destine R. Baxter Memorial Fund for the benefit of his children and expenses and may be sent in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, Kansas 67669.
