Debra Ann Armbruster

July 14, 1953 — June 9, 2018

Debra Ann Armbruster, 64, passed away June 9, 2018 in Ellis, Kansas. She was born July 14, 1953 in Dodge City, Kansas to Bill and Betty (Fritts) Eadus. She was the oldest of two daughters. She and her sister, Patty, spent their childhood in Hill City. Debby graduated from Hill City High School in 1971. She married Dale Armbruster February 7, 1976 in Scott City, Kansas. They were blessed with two children: Jennifer and Tricia. In 1983, Debby graduated from North Central Kansas Vo-Tech as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Most of her entire career was spent as an LPN at the Trego County Long Term Care Facility. She truly loved and cared deeply for the elderly. She was an active member of EHU, Gamma Eta Sorority, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. While her children were growing up, she spent many happy hours helping them with their 4-H projects, such as sewing and baking, as well as working in the office at the Trego County Fair. Debby’s favorite hobbies were cross-stitching, crafts and quilting. That hobby afforded her immediate satisfaction of creating beautiful work, and also the ultimate joy of sharing those creations with family and friends. To say Debra loved strawberries would be an understatement! They were found everywhere from her tea towels, to her knickknacks to her cross stitch projects to her cookie jars. Debby felt a special connection for the mountains and enjoyed every chance she had to head west. Her time in the Rockies was spent just being in the silence and scenic beauty that surrounded her. On one such trek, she ventured as far west as Oregon and fell in love with it. But her heart ultimately brought her back to Kansas and the family she dearly loved. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her grandsons just visiting, attending ball games and always showing a deep interest in their lives. She was preceded in death by her father Bill Eadus and her mother Betty Clark; her husband Dale Armbruster; and brother-in-law Mickey Armbruster. Left to mourn her passing are her two daughters: Jennifer Armbruster of Topeka, and Tricia Flax and husband Gary of Russell; three grandsons: Jarod Flax of Goodland, Braden Flax of Russell and Jacob Stoffel of Victoria; her sister, Patty Weeks and husband Greg of Thornton, Colorado; stepfather Wayne Clark of Hill City; brothers-in-law: Norbert Armbruster of Ogallah, Jimmy Armbruster and wife Nancy of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; sisters-in-law: Norrine Buchholz and husband Clete of Victoria; Bev Mong and husband Bob of Salina; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
