David Weltmer

July 3, 1951 — May 10, 2024

David Levi Weltmer, of Plainville, Kansas, passed away on May 10, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born on July 3, 1951, to Robert and Eunice (Lewis) Weltmer in Smith Center, Kansas. He married Deb Hugley on February 4, 1978 in Plainville, KS.


David grew up in Smith Center, KS and graduated from Stockton High School in 1969. He then went on to attend and graduate from Mid-America Nazarene University and became a minister. He spent the next 12 years of his life as a minister for the Nazarene church at various locations. He worked a few other jobs and retired at the age of 52. He enjoyed the mountains, reading and watching westerns.


David is survived by his wife, Deb Weltmer; sons, Ryan (Sarah) Weltmer, Plainville, Scott Weltmer, McPherson, KS; Derek Weltmer, Texas, Jeff Weltmer, Salina, KS; five grandchildren, Joelle, Rylan, DJ, Dylon, and Britney. Sister, Patty (David) Bear, Rural Osborne county; brother, Dan (Pam) Weltmer, Plainville and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his parents, uncles and aunts.


A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Nazarene Church 109 Meridian St. in Plainville. Private family burial will be held at the Plainville Cemetery.


Memorials are suggested to Redbud Village and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS 67663.
