Darrell James Kriley passed away on September 13, 2025. He was born on May 14, 1944, in Hays, Kansas, to Gerald and Feliceine (Parker) Kriley.
Darrell attended Sacred Heart Grade School in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 1962.
He was a proud United States Navy and Vietnam veteran, serving from 1964 to 1968. Following his discharge, he returned to Kansas and completed a course of study in carpentry. After a year as a carpenter, he transitioned to working in the oil field, where he worked for several decades.
Darrell was an avid sportsman, Kansas City Chiefs football fan, and reader. He especially enjoyed spy thrillers and books about history of the West. He also enjoyed taking walks around Plainville Lake and spending time with family and friends.
In May 2023, Darrell had the opportunity to participate in the Kansas Honor Flight program, through which he was able to visit Washington, D.C., with fellow veterans and see firsthand the memorials dedicated to the rights and freedoms he fought to preserve.
Darrell is survived by his sisters, Margaret Kriley of Lenexa, Kansas; Gerri Potter of St. Joseph, Minnesota; niece Krista Potter of St. Joseph, Minnesota; nephew Sean (Sarah) Potter of St. Joseph, Minnesota; great-nephew Ethan Potter of St. Joseph, Minnesota; as well as numerous cousins.
