Former Stockton resident Daphne L. Spencer, 81, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010, at the Nichol Home in Glasco, Kansas. She was born April 15 1929, in Rooks County, to Lela M. And Benjamin F. Smith, the fifth of seven children. She attended Webster school. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Stockton. She married Clarence O. Spencer Jr. on March 7, 1946 in Oberlin, Kansas. She was a homemaker and later the owner / operator of the North side Bait Shop at Webster Lake. Survivors include five daughters: Connie (Richard) Klepper, Ellinwood, Carla ( Aron)) Mahon, Galva, Candace Orona and husband Ray Leigh, Tuscaloosa, Al. Donna Johnson, Toledo Bend, La. and Marilee (Rocky) Gumm, Glasco; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 1great-great grandchild, a brother, Benny R. Smith of Mckinleyville, Ca., and a sister Christine L. Hance of Stockton, Ks. Daphne was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, a son, Tim and grandson, Ben, and 3 sisters and 1 brother. Arrangements for cremation are by Smith-Moore- Overlease Funeral Home, Stockton. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Daphne’s name to the Senior Citizen Center in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, Kansas 67669.
