Dale K. Buehler was born November 23, 1926 at Wilson, Kansas, one of twelve children to Theodore and Frances (Tobin) Buehler. They had seven sons and five daughters: Orval, Neva, Dean, Veta, Glen, Theodore Jr, Joyce, Dale, Ulalla, Ralph, Fern and Clark. Dale graduated from Wilson High School with the Class of 1944. Following high school, he served in the United States Army during WWII, receiving the Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Dale married Edna M. Soukup on June 15, 1949. They made their home in Wilson, where they raised four children and were active in the community and church. Dale was a Rural Mail Carrier and member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He also served his country and community by working as a guard at the Wilson Atlas Missile Site in the early 1960’s. He was awarded a pin in 1982 for 35 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service, and retired in 1984, after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, American Legion Post 262, and the VFW. At the Memorial Day Ceremony in2008, the American Legion honored him with a certificate for 60 years of continuous membership. That same year, he was a proud veteran participant in the Kansas Honor Flight to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Dale is survived by his loving wife Edna of the home; children Gloria Martin and husband Danny of Joplin, MO, Wes Buehler and wife Brenda of Wilson, Lori Pflughoeft and husband Craig of McPherson, and Bruce Buehler of Dallas, TX; brother Ted Buehler of Beatrice, NE; sister Joyce Podlena and husband Bill of Wilson; grandchildren Shane Martin and wife Karla, Jordan Pflughoeft and wife Rebecca, Mark Pfllughoeft, Michelle Pflughoeft, and four great-grandchildren.
