Colburn Ray Patterson

Colburn Ray Patterson was born in Hoisington, Kansas July 11, 1991 to Curtis Ray Patterson and Diona (Schuckman) Patterson. He passed away August 12, 2012 in Rooks County, Kansas at the age of 21. Colburn attended school in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 2009. He was awarded the Leadership Award in Junior High and High School. He received an agriculture scholarship and Dane G. Hanson Scholarship and attended Fort Hays State University for 2 ? years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Plainville, the Saddle Club, and was a Farm Bureau Collegiate. Colburn was active in many sports to include football, track, baseball and wrestling. He was also involved in FFA. Colburn enjoyed his friends, fishing, noodling, horses, and riding. He loved being on the ranch and working as a ranch hand for Liberty Ranch. Left to cherish Colburn are his parents Curtis Patterson and Diona Patterson of Plainville; sister Stacie Dinkel of Kansas City, MO; paternal grandparents George and Linda Colburn of Stockton; maternal grandmother Isabel Schuckman; numerous aunts and uncles; and his dog Gus. Preceding him in death are his uncle Bill Schuckman, paternal grandfather Raymond L. Patterson; and maternal grandfather Edwin Schuckman. Today, we mourn the years that Colburn will not have and we celebrate the time that was his and the life he lived. He was a treasure of the heart, and to lose him is like losing a piece of ourselves. But the love that Colburn brought did not leave us, for the essence of his soul lingers. It cannot escape our hearts, for it has been there forever.
