Funeral services for Cynthia Sue “Cindy” Thompson, age 62, of Plainville will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Plainville United Methodist Church in Plainville with Reverend Steve Slate and Reverend Eric Rook officiating. Ms. Thompson passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at her home in Plainville. She was born March 21, 1948 the daughter of Lonnie and Melva (Kerns) Hammonds. Cindy was a graduate of Plainville High School and was a bookkeeper in the Plainville area for several cattle businesses. Cindy was very creative and artistic. She enjoyed flower gardening, the outdoors, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, they loved their Mammo. Survivors include her son Chad and wife Kathy Conway of Plainville; daughters Angela and husband Ed Grothaus of Hebron, Kentucky, Melissa Pfannebecker of Waukee, Iowa; mother Melva McElfish of Plainville; Judy and husband Darrell Ross of Kansas City, Missouri, Kim and husband Shane Mai of Plainville, Renee Snider of Prairie Village, Kansas; and six grandchildren Darla, Ellie, Victoria, Joelle, Derek, and Julia. She was preceded in death by her father Lonnie. Cremation is planned with a private burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 9-8 Friday, at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hays Medical Center Home Health and Hospice and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663.
