IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christopher John
DeMeo
September 21, 1959 – March 10, 2026
Christopher John DeMeo, 66, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Wilson, Kansas. Born on September 21, 1959, in Newburgh, New York, Chris lived a life defined by passion, faith, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Chris pursued a career as a Certified Water Treatment Plant Operator in both California and Colorado. His work was more than just a job; it was his passion. He found great fulfillment in his daily routine and took pride in his contributions to ensuring clean water for communities. His dedication to his profession reflected his commitment to helping others and making a positive impact.
Chris had a strong faith in God that guided him throughout his life. He lived his faith through actions of kindness and respect toward others. Though he cherished solitude and embraced his free-spirited nature, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
A man of diverse interests, Chris was an avid vinyl collector, audiophile, and concert goer with an impressive collection of over 600 classic rock albums. Music brought him immense joy and served as a soundtrack to his life. He also enjoyed hiking and exploring the outdoors, finding peace and inspiration in nature’s beauty. Chris had a keen interest in coin collecting and was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan who loved watching races.
Chris is survived by his siblings: Paul DeMeo and his wife Andrea; Cathleen DeMeo Cassel and her husband Bruce; and Shawn DeMeo and his partner Josie. He is also remembered fondly by his Uncle Frank Policano; cousins Mark Policano and Michael Policano; several nieces and nephews; as well as a grandniece and two grandnephews. Chris shared close bonds with many friends throughout his life, including Bryan from Colorado, long-time friends from Newburgh, and special friends from Kansas, Judy and Perry.
He was predeceased by his parents, Catherine M. DeMeo and Joseph J. DeMeo.
Chris’s legacy is one of compassion, independence, and an enduring love for music, nature, and community. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at The University of Kansas Cancer Center and the Wilson Care and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness and attentive care they provided to our brother. A very special thank you goes to the Hospice team from Good Shepard Hospice in Salina, Kansas. Their compassion and gentleness brought Chris peace and comfort during his final days.
