Christine Louise Meisel
Sept. 6, 1951-Aug.19, 2023
Chris passed away suddenly from heart failure at her home in Stockton, Kansas.
Raised in Colorado, she rode with the Westernaires, learned to ski, backpacked, graduated from Poudre HS in 1969, and briefly attended Western State University in Gunnison, Colorado. She also learned how to weave, knit, make jewelry, and was trained to drive draft horses.
First working retail sales in Fort Collins, she became a manager at Greeley's Alpine Haus and moved to Vail in 1977 to manage Krismar Ltd. She survived recurring bouts of ovarian cancer. Ultimately, she left Vail in 1996 following an accident which left her with a traumatic brain injury.
After months of recovery in Denver, she trained as a massage therapist in Santa Fe. Eventually, she moved to Chadron, Nebraska where she opened a women's clothing store, ran several other "maker" businesses, and, as a paraprofessional, taught special needs students. She continued to teach after moving to Stockton in 2021. Her students brought her much joy.
She is survived by her sisters Ann Meisel of Denver, and Janet Meisel-Burns and (husband) Ken Burns of Windsor, Colorado.
Donations may be sent to Corgi Connection of Kansas, Junction City.
