Funeral services for Charlotte Riffe, age 100, of Wichita, formerly of Stockton, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton with Reverend Delbert W. Stanton officiating and Mrs. Shannon Krysl-Ohlsen reading the eulogy. Mrs. Riffe passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Sandpiper Bay Health Care Center in Wichita. She was born June 23, 1910 in Lyons County, Kansas the daughter of John & Myrtle (Foster) Rogers. She graduated from Palco High School and received her teaching certificate. Charlotte taught for 4 years in country schools until her marriage to Harold Riffe on June 19, 1932. Together they farmed in the Stockton area. Charlotte was a member of the Stockton United Methodist Church where she played the organ and was the Choir Director. She also was the Choir Director and organist at the Stockton Congregational Church. Charlotte was also a 50-year member of the P.E.O Chapter F.B in Stockton. Charlotte enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and playing music. She also helped with 4-H, and judged in several county fairs. Survivors include her daughter Marilyn and husband Harold Copper of Wichita; sons Roger and wife Linda Riffe of Casper, Wyoming, Tom and wife Ruthellen Riffe of Larkspur, Colorado; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold on February 14, 1994; sisters Eliza Sutor, Flora Rogers; brothers Marshall, Milton, Ernest; grandchildren Angela, and Matthew; and her parents. Burial will be in the Stockton Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon – 8 Tuesday, and from 9 – 10 Wednesday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stockton United Methodist Church or the Stockton Congregational Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
