Cary W. Blue

October 4, 1949 — October 15, 2024

Cary W. Blue, 75, of Woodston, KS, formerly rural Shelton, NE, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Our beloved Cary Blue tragically left us unexpectedly on October 15, 2024. He had just celebrated his 75th birthday. Cary was born October 4, 1949, to Raymond and Nedra (Ramsey) Blue. He had one sister Marcene Bauer.

Cary attended elementary school at Denman and graduated high school from Shelton. He attended 1 year of college at UNL. The next year he came back to the family farm. He continued farming until he retired in 2022. He and his father owned CR Lumber in Kenesaw from 1977 to 1989. He had a passion for life including raising lambs and was able to offer opportunities for 4-H members with the Buffalo County Lamb Lottery. He followed the projects to completion which gave him much joy. He loved spending time outdoors on the river, hunting and watching birds. He was a member and elder of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lowell. He loved the Lord!! His Church Family was very important to him.

Cary was united in marriage to Sharon Smith on March 28, 2009. He joined a ready-made family, stepdaughters Julie (John) Winkel, Sandy (Terry) Redetzke and LeAnn (Damion) Dix. The apples of his eye were his grandchildren, Caitlyn and Kade Miller, Grace (Blake Brown) Redetzke, Sydney and Carter Redetzke, Olivia, Ava and Addison Dix and great-grandson, Clayton Brown. He and Sharon rarely missed the grandkids’ sports activities. After Cary retired, they built a home in Kansas to be close to family. Cary played a huge part in the house’s construction and took pride in the process. The past few years had been the happiest as they settled into their new home. Cary and Sharon were enjoying life.

Cary is survived by his wife Sharon; stepdaughters; grandchildren; sister, Marcene Bauer; nephew, Matthew Gillham; niece, Amber (Jason) Melero; great-niece and nephew, Elise and Noah; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale Janitscheck, Larry (Lisa) Janitscheck, Susan (Bryce) Riessland and Janece (Donald) Ripp; and many other nieces, nephews and extended family.

Cary was preceded in death by his father and mother; brother-in-law, John Bauer; and mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Ethel Janitscheck.

A funeral service was held on October 23, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, NE.

A private family service will be held in Stockton.
