Carolyne Faye Griffin

October 18, 1946 — February 12, 2014

Carolyne Faye (Powell) Griffin passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, in the Hays Medical Center at the age of 67. She was born October 18, 1946 to Orval W. and Erma (Baker) Powell in Chanute, Kansas. After graduating high school, Carolyne attended Emporia College for two years. She was always an avid reader and a great lover of music. She played violin, cello, piano, and organ. On June 4, 1972, Carolyne was united in marriage to Robert Griffin. To this union, three sons were born; Kenneth Bradley “Brad,” Robert “Rob” D. II, and William James. Carolyne enjoyed going for sodas with the ladies of Plainville and getting together with the coffee club. There was never a lack of stories to be shared and fun to be had with her friends. Carolyne was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron on numerous occasions. Her love and devotion to God, family, and friends was strong and unfailing. Survivors include her husband Robert of the home; sons, Brad Griffin of Fall City, Nebraska, and Rob Griffin and wife Erin of Plainville; brother, Bruce Powell of El Paso, Texas; sister, Janiece Horrell and husband Mike of Palm City, Florida; aunt, Olan Finfrock; eight grandchildren, Robert Griffin III, Katrina Griffin, Jaron Griffin, Alaister Griffin, Jasper Griffin, Kaleb Gilkerson, Gabrielle Griffin, and Brooklyn Griffin; and one great-grandson, Braylon Gilkerson. Carolyne was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Erma Powell, and her son, William James Griffin. For Carolyne, life was a never ending symphony, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, but always rejoicing in her heart for the great blessings of her life. Those blessings are now ours, to cherish and pass on, as we live out the songs of our own lives. Carolyne will forever be greatly loved and greatly missed by all who knew her.
