Carolyn Jean Miller

January 23, 1942 — April 30, 2015

Remembering… Carolyn Jean Miller passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs, Colorado at the age of 73. She was born on January 23, 1942 in Beloit, Kansas to Chester J. and Beryl Eloise (Cotten) Miller. She grew up on a farm near Woodston and graduated from Woodston High School with the class of 1960. She was devoted to her family and was very proud to have raised her three girls on her own. She was their Girl Scout leader and enjoyed running the concession stand for all of the different Plainville School’s sporting events. She spent her later years working hard as an X-ray Transport for Hays Medical Center. Carolyn was an avid sportswoman, watching all sports. She especially enjoyed the ones her family were involved in. She considered it a special gift this year to be able to watch her great-grandson wrestle. She also loved filling out her bracket pool for the NCAA tournament with her former co-workers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Eloise Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Lori Laird and husband Steve of Hayden, Colorado, Lorna Stoecklein of Hutchinson, and Lisa Chauffe of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada; brothers, Jim Miller of Glasco, Bob Miller and wife Lynn of Beloit, and Kevin Miller and wife Mona Lisa of Verona, Kentucky; sisters, Dixie Miller and husband Kenton of Stockton and Diane Strutt and husband Vernon of Woodston; 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandsons; and many more beloved family members including step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Carolyn was a woman of faith, hope, and love. Living by her motto, “Laugh every day! It’s the best medicine!” She showed us by her smile, her happiness, and her joy, that the greatest of these is love. She loved her family, she loved her friends, and she loved the countless children whose lives she touched, leaving a legacy that will live on in their hearts and lives forever.
