Carolyn Yvonne (Idleman) Brummer passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at her home in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 81. She was born on July 25, 1935 in Woodston, Kansas to the late Verl and Vera (Miller) Idleman. She grew up in Rooks County, Kansas and graduated from Stockton High School with the Class of 1953. On December 29, 1956 she was united in marriage to Tony Brummer in Hill City, Kansas. Together, they worked side by side, raising their family and owning and operating the Taco Express in Plainville for over 30 years. Carolyn had a creative and artistic spirit. From sewing and cross stitching to gardening and painting, her heart overflowed with love and she always reflected that beauty in the world around her. She also enjoyed reading and, of course, jigsaw puzzles; but only those of a thousand pieces or more, because any less was just for beginners. Carolyn loved to travel, especially when she had opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Through the years, she saved everything they gave her or made for her, large or small, and never forgot to send little blessings of love to each of them on birthdays and holidays. Indeed, her family was truly the joy and love of her life. Carolyn is survived by her husband Tony Brummer of their home in Plainville; daughters Connie Pulley and husband Tony of Amarillo, TX, Tonya Wise and fiancé Bryan Thom of Ellsworth, Karen Werner and husband Rick of Plainville, and Sheri Workman and husband Tim of Dodge City; grandchildren Jessica Wise, Tiffany Parsons, Hannah Crites, Katrina Pulley, Paul Pulley, Jeremy Werner, Brandon Werner, Heather Padilla, Wendi Workman, and Weston Workman; and great-grandchildren Dennis Deiser, Grace Betts, Callen Parsons, Beckett Parsons, Lily Solis, Charlotte Crites, Alana Padilla, Trey Padilla, Taylor Padilla, and Brayden Werner. She was preceded in death by her parents Verl and Vera Idleman, son Daniel Brummer, sister Jackie Thayer, and son-in-law Dennis Wise. It is written, “Blessed are the pure in the heart, for they shall see God.” Carolyn showed us by example how to love beyond words. The love and purity of her heart allowed us to see not only the grace of our mother and grandmother, but the grace of God in whose presence she now glories forever.
