Obituary

Carol “Jeannie” Jean Malin, of Plainville, Kansas, passed away on June 14, 2026, at her home, at the age of 82. She was born on February 25, 1944, to William “Bill” and Regina (Hammerschmidt) Prockish in Hays, Kansas. She married Robert “Bob” A. Malin on July 1, 1961. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2024.

Carol grew up in Hays and graduated from Hays High School. She met Bob at the Varsity Bowl in Hays, where she worked as a carhop. Later, she moved to Plainville and became the manager of the Rooks County Country Club. She then worked as a cook at the nursing home in Plainville, where she was known for her dedication and hard work.

Carol loved hosting family and friends, creating a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt comfortable. She had a passion for shopping and a gift for cooking. Time with loved ones was precious to her, and she especially enjoyed spoiling her beloved dog.

Carol will be remembered for her quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and the laughter she brought to those around her.

Carol is survived by her sons, Tom (Jeannine) Malin of Zurich, KS, Tim (Eva) Malin of Plainville, and Aaron Malin of Plainville; five grandchildren, Morgan (Charlie) Ochs of Meriden, KS, Dustin Malin of Plainville, Brandon (Jenny) Malin of Plainville, Dallas Malin of Ellis, KS, and Andy Malin of Denver, CO; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding Carol in death are her parents; husband, Bob Malin; brothers, Dan “Sr.” Prockish, Robert “Bob” Prockish and Thomas “Tommy” Prockish.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Jeannine Malin and Virginia Lumpkins for all their care, support and kindness during Carol’s illness and passing. Your love and compassion will never be forgotten.
