Carla Jean Bouchey passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Phillips County Retirement Home in Phillipsburg, Kansas at the age of 64. He was born to Joseph A. “Joe” and Edith Ann (Rostocil) Bouchey at the Harwood Home in Stockton on October 7, 1948. Carla graduated from Stockton High School in 1966. She went on to graduate from Fort Hays State University with a teaching degree. After teaching 3rd grade for 15 years in Nelson, Nebraska, she came back home and was a substitute teacher and para for Stockton Grade School and helped on the family farm. Carla had a love for horses and helped with handicapped children at the Sandyland Therapeutic Program. She also helped her mother with janitorial work at Stockton National Bank & the Coop Elevator. She also worked at Brooke Insurance in Phillipsburg. Carla so enjoyed the Christmas holiday and would decorate each and every room with lights, garland and trees. She also filled the house with the aroma of cookies and candies she made. Survivors include her brothers, Jim (Janet) Bouchey of Phillipsburg and David (Dena) Bouchey of Stockton; nieces & nephews, Travis (Jodi) Bouchey of Texas, Tricia (Robert) Horn of Virginia, Mari (Todd) Garrett of Missouri, Shanda Bouchey of Hays, Julie “JD” Bouchey of Olathe, Tim (Karen) Bouchey of Palco, Richard “Rich” Bouchey of Stockton, Emilee & Chevy Bouchey of Stockton; and 12 great-nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edith Bouchey; and brother Allan.
