Funeral services for Robert G. “Buster” Stice, age 85, of Stockton will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home. Mr. Stice passed away Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton. He was born September 18, 1924, the son of Glenn & Fanchon (Look) Stice. He graduated from Webster High School and served his country in the United States Army in the Pacific during WWII. On February 27, 1945 he married Wilma “Bill” Barnes in Hays. Buster was a farmer and cattleman all of his life and was a member of the Stockton United Methodist Church, the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes V.F.W. Post #8873, and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed playing cards, socializing with his friends and spending time with his family. Survivors include his son Jim and Kathy Stice of Stockton; daughters Sinda Moores and Bill Lingeman of Sun City, Arizona, Sheila Champion of Hazel Green, Alabama, Shelly and Lyle Williams of Ellinwood, Kansas; grandchildren Jared Stice, Jacob Stice and LaDonna, Kyleigh Stice, James Nore and Sandy, Mandy Cloud and Scotty, Justin Nore and Ashley, Audrey Nore; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma “Bill” Stice, daughter Sara Jo Richards, brother Duane “Corky” Stice, and infant sister, his parents, granddaughter Stacy Kriley Beebe, and a son-in-law Joe Moores. Burial will be in the Stockton Cemetery with military honors provided by the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes V.F.W. Post #8873. Visitation will be from noon – 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 – 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rooks County Home Health and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family on our "send you condolences" link.
