Bonnie Belle Wyatt

May 30, 1931 — February 7, 2023

Bonnie (Gosser) Wyatt, of Plainville, KS, passed away at the Rooks County Health Center on February 7, 2023. She was 91 years old. She was born on Memorial Day, May 30, 1931, in Hays, Kansas to Theodore and Foila (Joy) Gosser.


Bonnie graduated from Hays High School in 1949. She joined the Women’s Army Corps in May 1951. Basic training was in Fork Lee, VA. After basic, she was stationed at West Point Military Academy, New York. In 1952 she was transferred to the 97th General Hospital, Frankfort, Germany. While there she had the opportunity to travel to France and Italy; and on the way home in 1954, visited Casablanca, North Africa. She was a charter member of the Women’s Army Corps Memorial in Arlington Cemetery Washington, D.C.


Bonnie was discharged in 1954, returned to Hays and opened the Bonnie B. Café on the northeast corner of Highway 183 and 27th Street. Due to a severe ice storm in 1957, she lost the café. She went to Great Lakes, IL to visit a friend, Clyde “Bud” Wyatt and they were married on September 3, 1958, in Waukegan, IL. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Natoma and enjoyed being a member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and held several offices in that organization.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harvey and Arnold; sister, Velma Baker; brother-in-law, Don and two nieces Cheryl and Sara.


She is survived by two children, Darci Wyatt, Plainville and Dylan (Tricia Hemphill), Codell; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Allen (Donna) Gosser, Codell; sister, Alice (James) Stramel, Hays; sister-in-law, Eileen Gosser, Wakeeney; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.


A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church, Natoma. Interment will follow at the Plainville Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the funeral home in Plainville, and 9:30 AM until service time on Monday at the church.
