Betty Jean (Langerman) Heinze died September 13, 2026, at Salina Regional Hospital.

She was born on November 26, 1930, in Ellsworth, Kansas.

Betty graduated from Wilson High School.

She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Earl Robert Heinze on August 15, 1948. She was a homemaker, an excellent cook and loved working outdoors with Earl on the farm where they lived for several years prior to moving to Wilson.

She loved horses and puppies and gardening. She always grew and kept beautiful roses and flowers.

Betty and Earl were avid square dancers and belonged to County Cousins and attended dances for many years.

Betty’s wonderful sense of humor and wit was a trait that many friends and family mentioned throughout her life.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and she and Earl were members of Service Circle. She was active in circle. She enjoyed reading and was a member of a lady’s reading club. She was also a member of a sewing group. Betty liked the competition for cards and was a member of a couple of local pinochle and card clubs.

Following her husband’s passing, she worked for several years or Wilson Nursing Home as an accounting manager and occasionally traveled for her company.

She enjoyed dancing and traveling and participating in community activities with longtime companion Gene Bland.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, her parents, Irma and Dell Langerman of Wilson, Kansas and a host of many friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Heinze McGaughy, of Colorado Springs, CO; her son and wife, Steve and Cindy Heinze, of Wilson, KS; her brother and wife, Duane and Linda Langerman, of Belton, TX; grandchildren, Ramie (Ryan) Coffman, Kevin (Shelly) Heinze and Jordan Heinze; great-grandchildren, Drake, Jayson and Myles, of Topeka.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 4:00– 6:00 p.m. at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Wilson.

Memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church 2819 Ave F in Wilson at 10:30 a.m. on September 24, 2026.

Inurnment to follow the church service at Wilson Cemetery. Lunch to be served in the church basement.
