Bernadine P. Reynolds

May 19, 1921 — October 5, 2016

Bernadine Pauline (Meyers) Reynolds passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Presbyterian Manor in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 95. She was born the youngest of six children on May 19, 1921, to the late John B. and Dora (Westhusin) Meyers on a farm near Natoma, Kansas. She grew up and attended schools in Natoma, residing there most of her lifetime. On July 31, 1938, Bernadine was united in marriage to Marvin F. Reynolds in Plainville, Kansas. They were blessed with five children, Marvin, Mark, Cynthia, Mike, and Phil. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to many. Gardening, canning, tending to her flowers, and keeping a large yard maintained kept her busy during the warm months. During colder weather, she spent much of her time on projects: sewing, needlework, crocheting, knitting, baking, reading, and more. Time spent in prayer was a priority in her life no matter what the season. Even though her dementia destroyed her memory of names and faces of those closest to her, she never totally forgot the words to her daily prayers. Bernadine was a proud member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville and the American Legion Auxiliary in Natoma. She is survived by her children Marvin Reynolds and wife Lucinda of Mountain Home, AR, Cynthia Schamber and husband Dennis of Wichita, Mike Reynolds and wife Denise of Kingwood, TX, and Phil Reynolds and wife Mary Kay of Conroe, TX; daughter-in-law Joanne Reynolds of Hays; grandchildren Gerry Reynolds and wife Angie, Tyler Reynolds, Tanner Reynolds, Melissa Brillhart and husband Darcy, Jeffrey Schamber, Alison Richardson and husband Steven, Lindsey Reynolds, Travis Reynolds and wife Janelle, and Nicole Buck and husband Taylor; great-grandchildren Quentin, Noah, and Ava Brillhart, Mackenzie, Taylor, Wyatt, Zoe, Desiree, and Layla Richardson, Seth Reynolds, and Jordyn Buck. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Dora Meyers, husband Marvin Reynolds, son Mark Reynolds, brothers Leonard, Lawrence, George, and Floyd Meyers, and sister Evelyn Younie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Burial will follow in the Natoma City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home with Prayer Vigil at 7:00pm.
