Barbara “B.J.” Poore passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 63. She was born August 6, 1950 to M.J. “Shorty” and Martha (Dondelinger) Sullivan in Kingman, Kansas. B.J. attended school in Pratt and graduated from Pratt High School with the class of 1968 and attended Pratt Community College. She was united in marriage to Larry Poore on September 21, 1979 in Hays. Along with working for the Rooks County Road and Bridge Department as Office Manager for many years, B.J. was always very active in the community. She served on the School Board, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Kansas Organization of Recyclers, Rooks County Local Emergency Planning Committee, was a 4-H volunteer, and served on the board of Kansas Agritourism. For B.J. life was a mixture of fast-paced hard work and stopping to smell the roses. Being outside doing anything was always better than being stuck inside. She loved her friends, neighbors, and family, especially her grandchildren and was never too busy to stop and visit, lend a helping hand, or just encourage and brighten up your day. She was outgoing, kind , and sharing to everyone she knew. Survivors include her husband, Larry of the home; son, Michael Poore of Stockton; daughters, Becky Foose and husband Bryon of Stratton, CO and Jennifer Hopkins and husband Evan of Towner, CO; two brothers, Robert Sullivan and wife Terri of Pratt and William “Bill” Sullivan and wife Sandra of Rago; sisters, Lynda Grimsley and husband Gary of Noble, OK and Cindy Hall and husband Dan of Haviland; grandchildren, Wes and Corey Poore, Brandon and Caleb Foose, Layton, Julia, and Lincoln Hopkins. She is preceded in death by her parents M.J. and Martha Sullivan and grandson, Jacob Foose. B.J. lived a life of love set by both words and example. Always with a clear head, a loyal heart, and serving hands, our community, our country, and our world will be less of a place without her. But her love, influence, and memories will live forever in our heads, in our hearts, and in our hands. She will be greatly missed. Reception: Woodston Fellowship Hall
