Arlan Dale "Dots" Heffel, 74, of Dorrance, Kansas passed away July 22, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Wilson, Kansas. Arlan was born June 28, 1941, the son of Arthur and Helen (Lind) Heffel. He grew up in Dorrance and graduated from Dorrance High School in 1960. He worked for several years as the manager of the Co-Op Service Stations in Dorrance and Bunker Hill. Arlan then spent 40 years as the Lead Driver and Route Supervisor for Bankers Dispatch Corporation of Kansas City and made his home in Salina during his career. Upon retirement in 2009, he moved back to Dorrance. Arlan was given the name “Dots” by his brother Larry when they were toddlers and the name stuck. He was a life member of Dorrance First Lutheran Church and a member of the Dorrance American Legion Post #334. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran and was granted an honorable discharged from the United States Army. Arlan enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, hunting, and watching sports. He was a fun-loving, witty guy that everyone enjoyed being around. Survivors include his sister, Karen Kircher and husband Ken of Indianola, Nebraska, brothers Larry and wife Marilyn of Lenexa, Kansas; Marvin and wife Sylvia of Dorrance, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be sorely missed by family and friends especially to his nieces and nephews who absolutely adored their beloved Uncle Dots.
