Allene Smith

Allene (Franklin) Smith passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at her home in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 86. She was born on October 29, 1928 in El Dorado, Kansas to Lemanuel M. and Ola M. (Ford) Franklin. She grew up in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School with the Class of 1946. On October 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Frank Smith at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado. They were blessed with three children. Allene lived life like the adventure it was meant to be. She loved traveling and camping, square dancing, and being outside. Whether working in the garden and planting flowers, or working with and riding horses, she was always on the go and having fun. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church in Stockton. Allene is survived by her husband Frank Smith of the home in Stockton; son Bob Smith and wife Kathy of Haughton, LA; daughters Marcie McClure of El Dorado, and Kathy Stice and husband Jim of Stockton; sister Carolyn Maus and husband Bill of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren Jeff Smith and wife Peggy of Scott, LA, Shannon Mitchell and husband Ricki of Palestine, TX, Jared Stice and wife Sonja of Stockton, Jacob Stice and wife LaDonna of Stockton, Kyleigh Stice of Stockton, Marshall McClure of El Dorado, and Mason McClure of El Dorado; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Lemanuel and Ola Franklin, and sister Gerry Vaught. Allene was a woman of deep love and faith for God, her family, and her friends. She was an example and inspiration of the words of Jesus who said, “Love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor as yourself.” Her love, life, and legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of the generations who follow until we all meet again in heavenly glory.
