Mass of Christian Burial for Alfred J. Fisher, age 88, of Palco, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Mr. Fisher passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born August 16, 1923 in Ellis County, Kansas the son of Clem and Pauline (Stubert) Fisher. Alfred graduated from Ellis High School in 1941. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council # 1857, the Palco Lions Club, and was a past Palco City Councilman. He also enjoyed woodworking and lawn care. Alfred farmed and later worked for the CL Soper Tank Service and for Ostrom Tank Service in Palco. On August 23, 1943 he married Georgine Jacobs in Antonio, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his son Fred and wife Terry Fisher of Plainville; daughters June and husband Keith Mongeau of Plainville, Melba and husband Leon Hammerschmidt of Plainville, Connie and husband Dennis Keller of Zurich, Jean and husband Donald Larsen of Russell; brothers Bob and wife Donna Fisher of Marysville, Kansas, Clarence and wife Shirley Fisher of Wichita; sister Helen and husband Joe Pfeifer of Hays; daughter-in-law Connie Fisher of Bland, Missouri; 24 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Gary Fisher on October 2, 2011; grandson Brandon Larsen, brothers Eddie and Billy; and sisters Esther and Irene. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery near Palco. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart School, the Palco Library, or to the Palco Lions Club and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
