Adeline M. Hale passed away May 12, 2012 at the Hays Medical Center. Adeline was born September 30, 1928 in Warsaw, ND to Joseph and Irene (Czapiewski) Langowski. She spent her childhood in the Forest River area of North Dakota. She received her early education attending a county school. She and her two sisters walked three miles to get their education. October 26, 1949 she married Loren Hale in Bottineau, ND. Loren and Adeline had three children, Dennis, Debbie and Lorna. Adeline was a devoted wife and mother. She and Loren had a wonderful marriage of 62 years. She gave up her native ND to make her home in Kansas, living in the Woodston, Scott City and Stockton area. Adeline was proud of her family. She put her family first. She took pride in keeping her home and children clean and neat. Adeline was a hard worker all her life. In her younger years, she gave up high school to work in the potato fields and sugar beet fields. She would pick 90 bushel of potato’s a day. She worked hard as a farmer’s wife, doing chores, raising baby chickens and milking cows. She grew a large garden and dressed many chickens. As her children grew up Adeline started working out of the house. She worked as a waitress, clerk, and cleaned houses for several people. She was a care giver helping many of her friends and relatives. She cared for Loren’s aunt May Aldrich for several years. Adeline was a great cook. She was happiest when she was cooking for a family dinner. She loved baking bread and cinnamon rolls. The family and friends will miss those yummy rolls. Adeline was a Christian and lived a Christian life. She was baptized in the Catholic Church as a child. In the 1950’s she was baptized again in the Woodston EUB Church. She raised her children to be Christians. She loved her family, her country and community. She truly loved her friends and extended family. She was a great aunt and wonderful grandmother. She was proud of her family and they were proud of her. The last days of her life, she was cared for by grandson H.J. and Raelyn. Being of Polish decent she loved to dance. Polka was her favorite. She was a member of the Western Bohemian Lodge. Survivors include her husband Loren; three daughters, Debbie Colburn of Garden City, Lorna Riffel of Ness City, and Shirley Olafson of California; 8 grandchildren, Thomas Yakish, Beau Riffel, H.J. Colburn, Bethany Nichols, Denison Colburn, Tommy, Tammy, and Dyanne Olafson; 16 great-grandchildren, John, Venessa and Emma Yakish, Trip, Lily, Draven and Landon Riffel, Tanner, Shyanne, Jenae and Taesen Colburn, and Karsten and Brady Nichols. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Julie Carlson and Dolly Czapiewski; and son, Dennis Hale. Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Woodston Methodist Church with Pastor's Les Ellis and Lyle Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Ash Rock Cemetery in rural Woodston. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Woodston Methodist Church and may be sent in care of Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, KS 67669.
